The Fitchburg Cultural Alliance (FCA) seeks a part-time (20 hours/wk) Studio Manager to oversee the licensing, programs, and daily operations of Main Street Studios.  FCA’s Main Street studios will open in the summer of 2022 and offer 7 affordable artist work spaces as well as a gallery and meeting space.  The Studio Manager will report to the FCA Executive Director.



  • Manage the application process for studio licenses (marketing of available spaces, review applications, give tours/interviews, communicate with applicants, approve applications with the Executive Director and/or FCA board)

  •  Manage license renewals (invoices, license agreements)

  • Work with Executive Director to establish studio policies and house rules and update as needed

  • Communicate regularly with studio licensees (regular meetings, schedule updates, policy updates)

  • Maintain calendar for studio and gallery uses


Programs and Events

  • Schedule and plan exhibits for gallery space (including licensees, visiting artists, and community partners) on a monthly basis

  • Organize exhibition related events (opening receptions, artist talks, classes)

  • Working with community partners (FCA members), the Executive Director, and FCA board develop programs, classes, and events for the gallery and meeting space

  • Work with marketing team to promote events

  • Support and help to develop fundraising events with FCA Executive Director and FCA board

  • Manage additional Main Street Studio uses (meetings, classes, rehearsals)


Studio Operations

  • Problem solve maintenance issues to ensure Main Street Studios is at peak functionality

  • Oversee general maintenance of the studio space

  • Art and merchandise sales (processing sales, sales reports, manage consignment with resident or exhibiting artists)

  • Order supplies (office, cleaning, event related)

  • Create and present monthly reports/ updates to FCA Executive Director regarding all matters concerning Studios.

  • Assist with FCA Membership, marketing, and meetings as needed

  • Provide additional administrative support such as answering telephones, greeting visitors, accepting deliveries, and other duties as needed



  • A people-oriented personality who enjoys meeting and engaging with artists and audiences representing diverse groups and individuals from multiple backgrounds and experiences.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with various office tools such as MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, etc. or the ability to learn these tools efficiently.

  • Ability to become knowledgeable about the studio, Fitchburg Cultural Alliance, and the community we serve

  • Proven ability in conflict resolution in a high profile/high volume environment

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and self-prioritizing.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the position and at the organization.

The number of hours per week will vary depending on the events schedule, but the Studio Manager is expected to be scheduled 20 hours per week. Some night and weekend availability required.
