Fitchburg Creative Cities Program Manager

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Recently, the City of Fitchburg was awarded a Creative Cities grant by MassDevelopment, a state agency that offers financing and real estate solutions to support companies and nonprofits, increase housing, eliminate blight, and drive economic growth across Massachusetts. The Creative Cities grant will support local arts and culture infrastructure, placemaking, programs, and leadership and partnership development over a two-year period. In Fitchburg, the work of Creative Cities will be performed by a 22-member (and growing) Creative Cities Partnership Team (Partnership Team), led by the Fitchburg Art Museum, Fitchburg State University, the City of Fitchburg, InTown Fitchburg, NewVue Communities, and the Fitchburg Cultural Alliance. Grant is funded for two years (September 1, 2022 ? September 30, 2024)

The Fitchburg Creative Cities Program Manager (Program Manager) will coordinate the activities of the Partnership Team. This work will include scheduling and managing committee meetings, writing and distributing meeting minutes and action items, and supporting and facilitating Creative Cities programs including, but not limited to, communications and marketing, regranting of funds to grass-roots arts and culture projects, planning and implementing a signature city-wide arts and culture event, identifying and applying for technical assistance as needed, helping to build the partnership team, and evaluating Fitchburg Creative Cities initiatives. A significant amount of the Program Manager's work will occur outside of normal business hours, such as evenings and weekends.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Work closely with Fitchburg Creative Cities Director to plan and coordinate the work of the Partnership Team.

  2. Schedule and manage meetings of the Partnership Team and its subcommittees. Record and distribute meeting minutes and action items.

  3. Communicate effectively with Partnership Team and other community stakeholders.

  4. Track progress of all committee work.

  5. Coordinate publicity and promotion of Fitchburg Creative Cities events, programs, accomplishments.

  6. Provide planning, marketing, and logistical support to Creative Cities events and programs, often in concert with the Downtown Events and Marketing Coordinator.

  7. Provide planning and logistical support for a local arts and culture re-granting program.

  8. Provide planning and logistical support for leadership development programs.

  9. Work with the Partnership Team to expands its membership.

  10. Identify and write applications for technical assistance opportunities as determined by the Partnership Team

  11. Work closely with the Executive Director of InTown Fitchburg to provide support for reporting to MassDevelopment, and to align the work of Creative Cities with the InTown brand.

  12. Document and evaluate Creative Cities programs.

  13. Other duties as assigned.

 


Requirements:
  1. At least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: arts/culture project management, marketing and communications, events planning and management. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred with relevant experience. However, 2 to 4 years of documented successful work experience in related fields may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  2. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

  3. Experience with volunteer recruitment/management.

  4. Must be strong team player and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, with highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.

  5. Strong project management skills to ensure all events and programs are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

  6. Exemplary organizational and communications skills.

  7. Must possess a firm understanding of creative economy and placemaking principles.

  8. Passionate and optimism about arts and culture in service to economic and community development in Fitchburg.

  9. Excellent technology skills and proficiency in social media and website management, and data collection and management.

  10. Evaluation skills and experience.

  11. Proven ability to work successfully with people from a wide variety of races, cultures, and backgrounds.

  12. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

  13. Graphic design skills are highly desired.

  14. Photography skills are highly desired.

  15. Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  16. Must be fully vaccinated/boosted for COVID-19 or have a documented and approved exemption.

  17. Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI) as well as a background check satisfactory to the university.

 


Additional Information:

Shift Information: Full time benefited APA Union position. This is a 2 year grant funded position. Grant is funded from 9/1/2022 - 9/30/2024. Standard hours are Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm however a significant amount of the work will occur outside of normal business hours, such as evenings and weekends.
